There may not be a forecast of snow flurries and you may want to trade in your scarf and mittens for a t-shirt and some shades, but there is still plenty of Christmas spirit to be found in Fort Myers! If you’re planning a beach holiday this Christmas, you don’t have to miss out on the beloved Christmas tradition of a festive parade. On December 7th from 6 pm to 8 pm, head on down to Salty Sam’s Marina for Fort Myers Beach's 31st annual Christmas Boat Parade!
The boats at Salty Sam’s Marina will be festooned with bright strings of lights and other decorations. The parade starts at the marina and moves along the back bay, so there are plenty of great spots along the shoreline to catch a glimpse of this festive spectacle. For great free viewing spots, you can station yourself by the fountain next to Nervous Nellie’s restaurant or at the ends of the first two canals in Siesta Isles (bring a folding chair and get comfortable!).
If you fancy a meal or drink while you watch the parade, there are plenty of restaurants along the back bay that will offer great views of the boats cruising by. Check out Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, Original Shrimp Dock, Matanzas on the Bay, Nervous Nellie’s, Bonita Bill’s, Dixie Fish Co. or Doc Ford’s — we recommend calling in advance for a reservation as there are sure to be plenty of people wanting a table with a prime view of the event!
For an extra special parade experience, you can also book a cruise with Sea Racer Tours or Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise and get a front-row view of the boats from right on the water. It’ll feel like being in the parade itself!
