Three Ways to Have Fun as a Whole Family
- September 15, 2019

As August and September come to pass, October rolls in with days that are simultaneously slower and busier. Schools in session, but with fewer things to do around and with things being slightly cooler, the days are definitely starting to feel slower. Here are a few things you can do together as a family (either visiting or local) to help reconnect and stay close and warm.
Taco Fest 2019
On October 13, pop on over to Bonita Springs & Estero for Taco Fest 2019! Tacos? Tacos! Need we say more? This is a family-oriented event intended for everyone to enjoy. The event includes live entertainment, countless food trucks, and restaurants with plentiful offerings! And for those of age, there are also beverages for purchase. And for those with younger ones, there are still non-alcoholic beverages for purchase and a kids area to play in. For vendors to participate, they must be able to offer you at taco for $2.00. Entrance is free!
Conservation Art Day
Art has the uncanny ability to bring people together. It can give the ability for people to communicate with each other without even speaking a word. There is something about communicating with a visual representation that can convey a complex message in a matter of seconds. Fascinating. Conservation Art Day (October 19) is all about preserving the look of wildlife - in this year’s lineup, this free event features duck stamps and the many interpretations and presentations of ducks. This can range from nature art to cartoons, and event photography.
Ding Darling Days
Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling was a prize-winning and heavily published cartoonist. His artwork critiques and commented on wildlife and its conservation. Today, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society is a non-profit that strives to support environmental education, services, and conservation. The “Ding” Darling Days is a deliberate feature on the efforts on preserving and conserving wildlife today. If you haven’t clued in yet, the Conservation Art Day is a great preamble to (and is, in fact, a part of) the “Ding” Darling Days. Admission is free, but some activities may require purchase.

Local or not, this time of year is the best time to visit the Florida beaches. After chowing down on some tacos or observing and recognizing the work being done to preserve wildlife, there will always be room in the day to hit up the beach and get a bit (or a lot) of sun. Staying at the Best Western Plus Beach Resort gives you the option of either staying in your room and soaking up the sun from your own balcony or jumping into the hotel’s private pool! Book your stay now.
