Fort Myers and Sanibel: The Artsy Guide

  • May 30, 2016

From dinner theaters to museums and galleries, there’s a whole world of artsy entertainment to enjoy in Myers and Sanibel. The region prides itself on embracing the good-life, so cultural and artistic enrichment opportunities can be found around every corner. So if you’re in the artsy crowd, you need to check out these three fantastic venues…

The Alliance for the Arts

The 12,000–square-foot William R. Frizzell Cultural Centre at the Alliance for the Arts is located on a 10-acre campus with public galleries hosting new exhibitions each month. The 150-seat Claibourne and Ned Foulds Theatre, as well as the Margaret Morrow Frizzell Amphitheater, present some cutting edge theatrical productions, while the Gladys G. Land School of Arts offers classes and workshops.

The Arcade Theatre

Located in a beautifully-renovated 393-seat Victorian playhouse built that dates back to 1908, the Arcade Theater in downtown Fort Myers blends early Florida charm with 21st century technology. Audiences are treated to variety of live theater, dance and music. Award-winning dramas and comedies are performed year-round, with some of them winning first regional rights for New York hit plays.

The Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall

Nestled on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, the Performing Arts Hall hosts national Broadway productions, world- renowned entertainers, dance performances and classical music concerts all year round. This is also the place to see the Florida Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. The adjoining Bob Rauschenberg Gallery showcases modern and contemporary artwork.
