On The Stage And The Sidewalk: Two Great Events In Ft. Myers This Month

  • May 16, 2015

There’s a little something for everyone going on this month in Ft. Myers, from auto shows to stage shows, and of course, the beautiful beach right out in front of our hotel. If you had enough sun, check out these cool events nearby:

Rims And Fins Auto Show And Sidewalk Sale

Feast your eyes on muscle cars, retro classics, vintage motorcycles, and exotic rides at the Rims and Fins Auto Show and Sidewalk Sale on Sunday, May 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Periwinkle Place, over the Sanibel Causeway and just half an hour from our hotel.

With drive-in style food and milkshakes served by local restaurant The Blue Giraffe, and raffle draws every 15 minutes, the event also features an outdoor marketplace where you can pick up everything from jewelry and art to sunglasses and gourmet foods.

On Stage: Church Basement Ladies

If live entertainment is more your thing, check out the Broadway Palm’s performance of Church Basement Ladies, opening on stage May 28. Watch the hilarious senior kitchen matriarch, the very proper bride-to-be, a new pastor and all the other amusing characters serve up the laughs.

The Broadway Palm is a classic dinner theater, providing a buffet-style dinner and an full bar. The full dinner-show experience is priced at $57 per ticket. You can, of course, opt for just the show at $37 per ticket.

Kids aren’t encouraged to the evening shows but if you have munchkins, don’t despair! The Broadway Palm also has a Children’s Theater, which features age-appropriate matinee productions and a kid-friendly menu. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is on stage at the Children’s Theater until May 22. Aladdin hits the stage next, opening on July 17.

The theater is located less than half an hour from our beachfront hotel
