Calling all music lovers: The hugely popular Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is set to return to the Fort Myers area from September 21 to 30.

Taking place on some of southwest Florida’s most beautiful barrier islands, it’s a great opportunity for fans to hear the songs they’ve heard on country radio performed by the actual songwriters.

“Island Hopper brings people closer to the music, giving visitors the chance to see and meet top songwriters in some of our destination’s most spectacular island settings,” explained Tamara Pigott, executive director of the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau.

The festival kicks off on Captiva Island on September 21 to 23, before moving on to historic downtown Fort Myers on September 24 to 27, and then wrapping up on Fort Myers Beach on September 28 to 30.
The full line-up is yet to be announced, but highlights include Bob Dipiero and Earl Bud Lee.

Since his first #1 in 1983, Hall of Fame Songwriter Bob DiPiero has been responsible for an uninterrupted string of country music hits. He has had over 1,000 songs recorded by other artists, countless hit singles, and an astounding 15 #1 hits. In 2011 his song Coming Home from the Country Strong movie soundtrack was nominated for both an Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture."

Earl Bud Lee has been writing songs for over 30 years in Nashville. Friends in Low Places was recorded by Garth Brooks (1991) and co-written with Dewayne Blackwell. One Night at a Time was also recorded by George Strait (1998) and co-written with Roger Cook and Eddie Kilgallon. Who Are You When I’m Not Looking was recorded by Blake Shelton (2011) (co-written with John Wiggins) and became another number one hit in March of 2011.

If you’d like to catch the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, book yourself a stay at the beachfront Best Western PLUS Beach Resort Hotel. When you’re not busy enjoying some fabulous country tunes, you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Gulf of Mexico from your private balcony.
