Burrowing Owl Festival

The Burrowing Owl Festival, which celebrates its 14th annual edition on Saturday, February 27, is the major fundraiser for Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. CCFW is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to preserve and enhance the habitats of protected wildlife species.

The area is home to the largest known population of the Florida Burrowing Owl — a small species of bird that burrows underground where they nest from February to July. They are also the official city bird of Cape Coral!

The Burrowing Owl Festival is a fun event for the whole family. Some of the highlights include educational exhibits and live animals, bus tours to local burrowing owl burrows, and demonstrations on burrowing owl maintenance. There will also be knowledgeable speakers on-site with wildlife presentations and live birds of prey. Visitors can embark on a tour through the butterfly house and learn more about these beautiful creatures.

Artists and photographers will have items for sale. Children can also enjoy free arts and crafts activities at the Children’s Creative Corner. And don’t miss out on the music and food vendors! Proceeds will go toward local wildlife protection, preservation, and education.

ArtFest Fort Myers

From February 5 until February 7 at 10:00AM to 5:00PM, the Fort Myers waterfront will be filled with art, entertainment, and exciting activities. Over 200 artists will be presenting original and unique artworks that visitors may purchase to add to their personal collections. Meet the artists of your favorite piece face to face and be sure to enjoy the great food and live music.

Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair

The annual Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair has been a district favorite since 1924. Held for 11 days from February 25 until March 6, this showcase of agriculture, education, and traditional home arts displays over 1,500 exhibits to thousands of visitors.

The Livestock Department houses four barn areas, a show ring, horse arena, multiple grooming areas, and more than 300 youth exhibitors from the six county 4H and FFA programs. In the Creative Living and Home Arts area, find everything from quilts to canning to cake decorating amongst the many creative art displays.

There is also free family entertainment and shows through out the Fair.  Returning this year are the Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean and the Eduora Petting Zoo, as well as Marc Dobson the "One Man Band' and Dale Scott's Future of Magic Show. And make sure to enjoy the delicious food! Purchase of the Food Passport will allow visitors to try all the treats.
