Ah, summer. There’s so much to love about everyone’s favourite season. Everyone seems to be in a good mood, and the whole world seems open and ready to be explored. And if you’re visiting Fort Myers during the summer months, then you’ll soon discover that there are few places better to explore than this corner of southwest Florida. Below, we take a look at some of the fun and exciting things that’ll await you when you arrive for your vacation. One thing’s for sure, you’re unlikely to get bored any time soon!
Into the outdoors
It’s summer, so that means one thing: it’s the perfect time to head into the outdoors! The J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge has long been recognized as one of the best things to do during a trip to Fort Myers. Located on nearby Sanibel Island, it’s a great spot to explore on foot, or on a bike, or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, from a canoe.
A day at the beach
Of course, the other good thing about summer is that you don’t have to do anything if you don’t feel like it. There’s nothing wrong with spending a day at the beach! Of course, there’s no shortage of fantastic beaches to choose from, but if you’re looking for something extra special, take a look at Lovers Key State Park.
Pick up a souvenir
Finally, don’t forget to the stroll the streets of Matlacha and pick up a souvenir. It’s a beautiful spot, filled with boutique stores that have an arty vibe.
