American Alligator, Everglades Wonder Garden, Florida, Bonita Bay, Fort Myers

In town for Father’s Day this year? The beach is always a great way to spend a day in Florida, but if you’re looking for something different, we’ve got a great suggestion for you.

An ultimate roadside attraction experience in Florida, the Everglade Wonder Gardens is a 3.5-acre botanical jungle and a rare opportunity to see Florida’s wildlife up close and personal.

The center houses a butterfly house, a flamingo pond, and alligator pool with 40 gators, ducks ponds, turtle and tortoise exhibits set in a gorgeous backdrop of Florida’s natural flora.

The center is open daily from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., but Dad enjoys free admission on June 21 when he comes visit the center with his family, so this is a great day to visit. About 40 minutes from our hotel door, the Everglades Wonder Garden in Bonita Bay is great day activity in the Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel area.

Speaking of Bonita Bay, on Saturday, June 20, you should check out some great music at the Summer Songwriter Celebration. Featuring Grammy Award winning artists Dylan Altman and Phillip White, this event is free and BYOB - Bring Your Own Blanket.

With deep roots in the country music scene, Altman has written songs for country faves including Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean and Jake Owen, while White has worked with Rascal Flats, Kenny Rogers and Blake Shelton. Aldean and White bring their talent to Bonita Bay’s Promenade on June 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event is free and BYOB - Bring Your Own Blanket.

Bonita Bay is a short drive from the Best Western Plus Beach Resort in Fort Myers Beach, which a great place to call home during your stay in sunny south Florida. Book your room with us today and enjoy our beachfront property overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.
