Coming this November: the American Sand Sculpting Championships

There’s always a lot going on in beautiful Fort Myers Beach, Florida. From concerts, to outdoor activities, to shopping and culinary events, our corner of the country has a real pulse. And of course, we’ve got our beautiful beaches too, which are always alive with excitement. This November, that’s going to be truer than ever, as a can’t-miss event is set to make its yearly return to town. It’s the 29^th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship!

Yes, while the rest of the country readies for another winter of snow shoveling, in Fort Myers Beach, talented artists from around the globe—from Canada, Portugal, Italy, and even further abroad—will be shoveling sand into incredibly masterpieces.

Over the course of the event, artists of all skills levels will work with over 1,000 tons of sand, sculpting depictions of Christmas trees, pumpkins, people, cartoon characters, and of course the classic castles, for a truly spectacular display. Of course, there will be more to this event as sand-sculpting too. Attendees will also enjoy games, sculpting workshops, live music, and plenty of food and drink for a complete experience that USA Today and CNN Travel have called “a must-see” and one of the 10 best sand sculpting competitions in the world.

The event runs from November 20-29^th at Wyndham Garden, just a short distance from our hotel, making it a great opportunity for our guests to spend a day—or a few days—out in the sun. And when you’ve had your fun, take the short trip back to our hotel for some well-deserved relaxation time or a quick dip in our pool.
